Latest Updates from Our Project:

PRODUCTION IS STARTING!!!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Dec 01, 2022 at 11:19:31 PM

Hey, Vault Hunters!!! We are absolutely pumped to show you the expansion content that we’ve been finalizing (and getting approved) over the last month! It's absolutely awesome to see how everything is coming together and moving forward, and we’ve got some great news!

Samples of the colors and plastics to be used in production.

Great news first...

Physical samples of the plastics and colors have been received from the factory. Because of their prompt approval (HELL, YEAH!) Production of the minis has launched! About 90% of the entire range's print-ready files have been given to the factory. The factory has already begun processing them, production is starting, and we are well on our way to getting your pledges going!

Print-ready file of a Bounty card in the Tink Camp expansion.

Bounties are an awesome way of facing different mini bosses while playing through a campaign. Not only that, they also give you a chance to score some pretty cool loot that will help you when you get back to the campaign scenarios! So, it’s all good when it comes to bounties, y’all: fighting cool, unique enemies and getting rewarded with sweet gear! Well, I mean…IF you win…Mr. Torgue doesn’t just hand out freebies to the losers, you know!

Print-ready file of the Badass Bruiser Enemy card from Best Minion Ever.

Best Minion Ever has some freaking radical content in it! For example, take a look at this Badass Bruiser: 5 Health with a 7 Defense…Range of 3, and a Strength of 8? This guy’s going to put a cramp in almost any Vault Hunter’s style…quick, fast, and in a hurry!

Print-ready file of the Wattle-Gobblets Enemy card from the Ravenous Wattle-Gobbler campaign.

Who’s up for some more turkey?...turkey sandwiches, maybe? We couldn’t not include this one seeing as how we just got done celebrating Thanksgiving!  They might be small, but don’t let them fool you... they can still cause some major pain and difficulty for a Vault Hunter. They can grow pretty dang fast, too. And let’s not even get started about their much larger counterpart!

One of the Scenarios in the Butt Stallion campaign.

Some of you have been asking about the Butt Stallion... what it is and what it’s going to bring to the Borderlands table? Well, here’s a little taste of what you can expect: this is just one of three scenarios that include the glorious Butt Stallion in all its wonder!

Steve's Enemy card from his own campaign.
Print-ready file of a Spotlight card from Steve's campaign.

And what Borderlands game would be complete without a cameo appearance by Steve, huh? You’ll have a number of scenarios where you’ll be able to work right alongside Steve. Better make sure you do as he says, though. I don’t think I’d be wanting to piss off someone that has 8 Defense, 9 Health, and 2 Green shields! Just sayin’!

We've received some questions concerning how many cards are going to be in the game, and what sizes they will be. The base game itself will have more than 400 cards altogether. Each of the expansions will bring more cards into the game, too: more enemies offered, more Spotlight cards, boss-specific event cards, new weapons and mods and so on. So, if you're jonesing to buy some card sleeves for the base game, you can start out with 188 standard-sized "poker" cards and 240 euro-sized cards.

Monster Fight Club will have a crew demoing Cyberpunk RED: Combat Zone at PAX Unplugged!

If you're going to be in/around Philadelphia, PA, this weekend come see us at PAX Unplugged 2022, December 2-4! A few of our beastly folks will be joining the R. Talsorian team (booth #3207), running demos of Cyberpunk RED: Combat Zone on an absolutely epic container ship created by our very own Monster-in-Charge, John Kovaleski! Unveiling at PAX, it's likely the largest mini you've ever seen!!! We’ll also have a few convention-exclusive minis you can purchase at the booth, so, come see us if you’re in the area. It would be worth your time to get a taste of Cyberpunk RED: Combat Zone for yourself! Hope to see you there!

Again, production is starting, and we are well on our way to getting this on boats to leave China. As soon as the factory updates us on when we can expect production to be completed and have the product on boats and leaving China, we will surely update everyone on that estimated timeline. We're so close, we can smell the victory!

Thanks so much for your support, Vault Hunters! Happy Holidays!

The Monster Fight Club Team

BTW... our warehouse manager reports that, for our US customers, December 15th is the absolute last day you can order things from our webstore and expect to receive them before Christmas. For our customers in other parts of the world, that date is December 7th. Get those orders placed now for Christmas morning combat!

A BUNCH OF BADASS APPROVALS GOING ON AS WE RACE TO THE FINISH LINE...HELL, YEAH!

WELCOME BACK TO THE ARENA, VAULT HUNTERS!

Since our last update, the whole design team here at Monster Fight Club and the approvals team at Gearbox Entertainment have been hard at work trying to get the gigantic amount of text and artwork through the approvals process as efficiently as possible. Unfortunately, this has proved to be a challenging task, but we have stuck to it, and we think everyone has found their stride! While this does manifest as a delay, a lot of good things have come about during the approvals process.

Before and After comparison of the design for the Torgue manufacturer cards.

One of the things we’ve done (among many), is redesigned the borders of the Torgue manufacturer equipment cards! We’ve moved away from the yellow and green motif, to a more traditional red, white, and blue setting with the checkered pattern in there, and we’re super happy with how these changes are increasing the look and quality of the components even more.

Before and After comparison of the Assassin Reeth enemy card.

We’ve also made a lot of smaller changes to the enemy cards that all added up to a pretty big difference! We refreshed many of the poses and sourced better artwork of the enemies themselves. This has proven huge task,  even with adding an additional graphics designer and an intern, both of whom are huge fans of the Borderlands franchise and put in a lot of after-hours and after-college hours (during midterm exams, even!) to make sure our graphic design team had great sourced images to work with. We played with the opacity of some of the card features, cleaned up the backgrounds a bit, and added some more defining lines around the enemy artwork to make them pop a bit more.

While these examples, of course, are not exhaustive as to what we’ve been working on since our last update, we hope you can see that we’ve definitely not been idle. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible quality product that we can. So, when Gearbox Entertainment says this all looks great but could be even better if we made a couple of tweaks... we turn to and make the adjustments. We admit, things are looking even more epic because of it. We get one chance to get this right so it's worth the effort. Everyone here has strived to get things done as quickly as possible but this does mean that the process has taken longer than expected. Once these last paper components are signed off on then we will be ready to start the presses and get this thing printed, boxed up and ready to ship.

On the plastic side of things, the cogs are already well in motion and we hope to see actual production samples in the next few weeks and the dice production has already begun. Everything is going in the right direction.

We know that at the end of the day, what everyone really wants to know is when they can expect to receive their pledges. At this point, the best info we can offer is that both Gearbox Entertainment and Monster Fight Club expect to complete the approval process by Friday, November 11th. If we’re both able to hit that target, then we’ll have the project’s files in the hands of the factory by Monday, November 14th. This would constitute smashing the production button, at which point the factory would make every effort to finish the kickstarter pledge production run completed by February. The games would then ship to the fulfillment partners for delivery March/April. We will have a more exact estimate once the product is ready to leave China, but for now, this is what we have.

Examples of the great work done Gustavo and Angel!

We’ve also got some of our collaborating painters working on some pretty freaking awesome minis to show how badass-ly detailed they’re gonna be for you! Gustavo Munoz and Angel Giraldez have done some amazing work on the Raging Goliath, Goliath, Amara, Bloodwing, Maya, Psycho, and Mordecai models and we wanted to make sure you were able to check it out first!

Epic Painted Models from the Borderlands! Check them out!

We haven’t even shared these in our social media channels, yet, but that will be coming in the next few days with more info on how you can check out more of their work!

Thanks so much for your support, Vault Hunters! We will continue pushing hard to get this epic project completed and delivered to a gaming table near you as soon as possible.

Feel free to reach out in the comments here or hit us up via email [email protected], if you have any questions that we can help you with.

Happy Halloween!

Vault Hunters to the Arena!
over 1 year ago – Mon, Oct 03, 2022 at 10:02:02 PM

Greetings, Badasses! It's update time!

We know that the first question that's always forefront is the project status update. We are on track with our target from last month of having print ready for approval and heading to the factory during the month of October. We have two items that remain in layout: The Robot Revolution campaign book and the Lootsplosion campaign book. Everything else is currently with Gearbox getting final approvals. As we move through that process, items will be sent to the factory as they are approved, and the two last campaign books will be fed into the queue as they are wrapped up. As soon as everything is approved and at the factory we'll be sure to let you know, because that's also when we'll be able to get timelines from the factory to share.

While we all wait for the approvals process, we thought we'd take a closer look at bunch of the Vault Hunters that you unlocked during the campaign and we're sure you're excited to play (because we sure are!)  We released these on our discord earlier this month, but wanted to make sure you all got a look at them too. And if you're not on our discord make sure to join up!

Join the Monster Fight Club Discord!

Axton

Naturally, Axton arrives with his Sabre. He's able to deploy it as an easy action and then it takes [RE]action shots during the enemy turn. Perfect for keeping charging Suicide Psychos at bay. Axton's three skill trees: Guerilla, Gunpowder, and Survival; allow you to augment his turret, make Axton a mayhem machine, or function as a support character.

Zane

No discussion of Vault Hunters with toys can exclude Zane. Who starts with his defense barrier and then through the use of his skill trees can unlock his SNTL and Digi-Clone. It's always fun to be the player that gets to have four models on the board giving enemies fits.

Lilith

Of course there always needs to be a siren in the group and no siren is more iconic than Lilith. Her Phasewalk makes her one of the fastest characters in the game. With paths to ramp up elemental damage, controller the field of play, or use Phase Strike to fell even the most powerful foes.

Brick

One of our personal faves, Brick is the brutal powerhouse with the heart of gold you'd expect. His Berserk ability makes him a perfect Vault Hunter to take down multi-wound enemies. You can continue down the Brawler path for even more melee brutality, or Tank it up and become nigh-on indestructible, or even go the Blaster route for a combined arms approach.

Mad Moxxi

Sometimes Moxxi needs to take care of business herself. Her Crowd Pleaser lets her bribe enemies to control their movement and her "A New Husband" skill tree may be one of the craziest most fun skill trees in the game. (Yes, she actually gets a new spouse!)

If you'd like to get a detailed look at the bonus Vault Hunters make sure to download the files below. And if you catch an error, it's not too late for us to fix them. Just post them into our Discord and we'll make sure to address them. Until then, we'll see you on the next update!

Book Layouts and General Update
over 1 year ago – Wed, Aug 31, 2022 at 01:24:39 AM

Greetings Vault Hunters!

It’s update time. Let's blow some stuff up!

First up, we’ve just about wrapped up the layout of the core rulebook, core campaign book, and Skags at the Gates campaign book. Let’s take a look at a few of the spreads.

These are a few of the spreads from the core rulebook. Complete with some snazzy new examples and lots of pictures of icons to make it easy to identify everything in the game.

These are the bounty maps that you use when hunting down some of the many dangerous unique enemies in the game. If you missed it, we did a feature on bounties on a previous update (#34) that you should check out!

Both the core game and Skags at the Gates come with a scenario book packed full of explosive scenarios. We’ve had a blast designing and playtesting these and can’t wait for you to play them, too!

Once these three books are done and approved, the complete contents of the True Badass pledge will be ready for production. Badass!

Ultimate Vault Hunters don’t despair, only the Robot Revolution and Lootsplosion books will remain for layout. As production begins, the final files will be finished up and delivered allowing them to take their place as the next items in the queue.

As you know, we have had a steady stream of physical samples of the miniatures sent to us, and we’ve reviewed and approved almost every miniature. We have a few that we haven’t seen yet, or that had some problems and we’re getting them fixed up. Here’s the list:

  • INAC - We approved pictures of its physical model today.
Stiff-arm to the FACE!
  • Wattle Gobbler - It had a blunt beak, so is getting a slight revision so that he’s extra vicious.
  • Road signs - For some reason, on our physical samples, the signs were squished, so we’re getting new samples sent.
  • Barrels - They accidentally forgot the barrel tops! So, we’re awaiting new samples.
  • Badassasaurus - We want the machine guns to rotate to join the moveable neck and jaw. We should have it soon.

With physical samples almost entirely approved, the factory has begun engineering the final insert trays and building our white sample for final approval so that we can make sure everything fits together well in the box and is of excellent quality. Then we hit “GO!”

Our current goal is to be through the approval process on our end (both with the factory and with Gearbox) and have things delivered to the printer by the end of September, so that we can have production moving forward in October. Once production begins, the factory will be able to give us a more solid timeline for when the product will be scheduled to leave China’s shoreline. As soon as they can provide us with that projection, we will pass it along to you.

Until the next update. EXPLOSIONS!!!

Gen Con 2022!
over 1 year ago – Tue, Aug 02, 2022 at 01:44:59 AM

Greetings Monsters!

It’s Gen Con time! The entire Monster Fight Club team is driving, flying, roaring, and rampaging our way to Indianapolis for the best four days of gaming! Because of that our update is a bit truncated and Gen Con focused this time, but don't worry we have more updates in store.

For Borderlands we have and an awesome Convention Exclusive alternate adult Tiny Tina available.

She will be available at our booth and also online during the show. This alternate sculpt of Tiny Tina has the same rules as the version included in the Kickstarter. So if you don't have an opportunity to get her, don't worry, you won't be missing out on any game content.

We also received a big box of production sample for tooling. They look great! We made a short video of them.

It felt great to have these in hand and see for ourselves that the great detail in the sculpts is being maintained. We can't wait to see (and share) more!

As we said, short and sweet for this update. We're off to load the trucks and hit the road. We hope to see you at Gen Con!
